The Magazine Publishers of America has announced the line up for its Magazines 24/7: The E-Reading Revolution event. On tap as speakers are John Squires, managing director of publisher-formed e-reader group Next Issue Media; Gil Fuchsberg, president of Hearst-incubated Skiff; and Forrester Research media/device analyst Sarah Rotman Epps.
The MPA says the event will focus on opportunities in e-reading created by advances in smartphones, netbooks, tablets and e-readers, and how publishers and editos monetize them. Session topics will include: The Insider’s Guide to E-Readers, Paid Content Models for E-Reading and How E-Reading Changes the Game for Content Creation.
ASME also will hand out its first annual National Magazine Awards for Digital Media during the conference, which is scheduled for Thursday March 18 at the Sheraton New York Hotel & Towers.
Vogue Unveils iPhone App
The big fashion magazine has joined the mobile ranks, unveiling this week its application for the iPhone. The app, called “Vogue Stylist,” directs users to advertisers’ Web sites when they click on or take a photo of and upload one of the ads.
