Customer magazines up for awards that recognise results
Eight Haymarket Network publications have been short-listed in the customer publication awards that recognise "titles designed to produce results".
The Association of Publishing Agencies (APA) Effectiveness Awards are specifically for bespoke client publications.
“Effectiveness is the key word in these awards,” said the APA on their website. “If customer magazines are to compete for marketing spend against other media they have to demonstrate that they work.”
Haymarket magazines that work for their clients, as nominated by the APA, are Camouflage, Design Council Magazine and Champions.
Also nominated for APA awards are Haymarket Network websites, Motoraddicts.com and ManUtd.com, and One Army, Haymarket Network's integrated marketing solution for the British Army.
“Engaging customers, energising relationships and creating response is at the heart of our proposition and this set of nominations reflects this,” Juliet Slot, managing director of Haymarket Network, said today.
Jon Butterworth, who this year redesigned the British Army recruitment magazine, Camouflage, is up for APA designer of the year.
Butterworth said today that Camouflage’s success – with its predecessor Army Magazine, it is the most awarded of customer publications – is helped by the great story opportunities created by its client.
“It’s the perfect subject matter for kids to get involved with. That, plus great images and a bold-looking product, makes a good magazine at the end of the day.”
Butterworth was recently nominated by the British Society of Magazine Editors for art director of the year, as was Camouflage’s David Burton for editor of the year. The magazine, with Haymarket Network’s .32 and Design Council Magazine, is also in line for several Press Gazette awards.
The APA Effectiveness Awards will be announced on November 21 at the Brewery, London.
